Breeders in AZ? CA?

Post by beccafigs » Mon Nov 26, 2007 9:52 am

I'm in the valley in Arizona and I was wondering if anyone on here breeds any type of finch other than zebras. I'd be willing to take a trip to southern California as well, as my husband and I drive back and forth to Camp Pendleton (Oceanside) frequently. There is a fairly good bird shop not too far from me, but their selection varies greatly, they don't seem to have a lot of breeders selling them their birds. They always have lots of zebras and societies, but I'm particularly interested in spice finches. I'm not at all interested in the birds at Petsmart or Petco, they are poorly cared for and I would be heartbroken if I tried to save some birds and they died.

Hi-Down in San Diego off Clairemont there's a store called Bird Crazy. If you're already in OC you've got to take a trip down and check it out. They have every kind of finch. It's awesome. Also you could go through www.finchniche.com and find out if she has any birds or knows when there is a show coming up. Hope you find something!

Trevorama- Thanks for the info. I have looked all over in AZ and haven't found anything yet so I might just take a detour if I find a breeder that has what I want available next time I am in CA.

Emily- Thanks for the links, although I have looked at those websites; almost all the pages for AZ I have found either haven't been updated since '03, they don't have birds available for a while, or they have lots of broken links. I found a store whose webpage sucks but is fairly close so I may just pop in today or some time soon. Like I said, if I still can't find anything here by the end of December I will start looking in Southern CA. :)
