If a gouldian is fat or should I say a little on the blumper side....

How does one put them on a diet that will work when there are others in the cage with them?
The gouldian is about 6 months old and you can tell he is a bigger size anyways. We saw his father at the breeders and his father was a bigger then the other males as well as the male we have. But I wouldnt say fat just bigger in size.
thanks

If a bird is overweight - exercise is the best remedy. Be sure your cage is set up so the bird has to fly between perches and not hop. Don't make feeding dished easily accessible - I feed my birds towards the bottom of the cage or flight so they get exercise.
If you feel they are getting enough exercise - then re-evaluate the diet you are providing. You may want to reduce the frequency of eggfood/softfood and/or other foods you are giving.
Just to be sure - have you caught up the bird and felt the breast to be sure it is actually overweight? It is hard to tell just by looking at a bird.

Some gouldians are just bigger birds, and some are slimmer. Personally, I like the birds to have some heft to them.....

He is certainly flying around a little more since I moved the perches.
We are not sure but think if has improved a little in jsut a few days.
I would say he is a bigger boned bird then some of the gouldians out there. His father was a big guy (beautiful but big) so I think he will take after him. I just dont want him to get fat, big ok not fat.
