Pelletts and wild bird feeders in aviaries
Do Pellets work good in wild bird feeders? or do they (finches) still throw them around like they do with seeds?
I have a Pair of Canaries.I also have an Aviary(video) with a bunch of finches in it.

I use wild bird feeders for seed only in my aviaries. Pellets, eggfood, soaked seed, grit and herb salad all go in terracotta saucers on the floor or shelves in the aviary. In south Florida pellets don't keep in the humidity long enough to fill a bird feeder.

I find some of my birds knock the seed out to get to the pellets. If using dishes I mix. If using feeders pellets are served separately.

Re: Pelletts and wild bird feeders in aviaries
Are you talking about outside wild bird feeders or for use in your aviary?
Even in the cage, birds will flick/toss both seeds and pellets.
I have uneaten pellets around my feeding tray, and all I can think is that the birds are flicking it out as they dig into the food looking for what they want (even if everything is the same pellet food).
Also, If they can get into the food tray, they go into the food tray. And when they go into the food tray, the pellets get tossed out as they jump/fly out of the food tray.

Re: Pelletts and wild bird feeders in aviaries
Many have used hanging wild bird feeders in their aviaries. Ursula has one where she attached a saucer to the bottom of a wild bird feeder to catch the hulls and seeds that the birds threw around. I still like the seed hoppers, but I don't know how those would work with pellets.
