Any experience with cede and snack attack egg food?

I just found out that someone in my city has two kinds of egg food: cede and snack attack. Well, that´s what he offers in his web page, I hope he really has them now, but I would like to know if any of you have had any experience with this two brands, and if you recommend them. I suppose they are good if I want to breed.

I use snack attack...they seem to like it but I also use grated boiled egg for parents with chicks. Another good eggfood is ABBA eggfoods.

I use Snack Attack but have never seen the eggfood by them. Rather, I buy the little fruit/seed blends by Snack Attack (the birds devour this stuff - they love it). I have also bought some of the dried greens and another Snack Attack seed mix (can't think what it's called) but they seem to enjoy them.

It's the Fruit & Veggie one my birds love. Also, the leafy greens & herbs. I have tried Herb Salad from Ladygouldian.com based on rave reviews from everyone and their brother, but for some reason, my birds won't touch it. This one from Higgins, though, they really like.

I found it confusing to try to figure out which egg food might be best and in experimenting, found a few that the birds liked - and were readily available here. I rotate through two or three of them - a different one each time. Maybe flawed reasoning, but I figure this way they birds can get the benefits offered in all of them.

Like Lisa, I also add a small amount of dried greens to the eggfood. They work very well that way and reconstitute a bit when egg is also mixed in. (I also offer fresh greens - so not really a substitute). I regularly mix Dandelion Leaf, Red Clover, and Alfalfa Leaf and can highly recommend Mountain Rose Herbs for quality http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkherb/bulkherb.html The dried greens are fresh, organic, brightly colored and very fragrant. The birds like them a lot.

My vote would be to try the eggfoods and see what your birds like.

Martie, thank you so much for posting the link for the herbs. Growing up in NJ we were able to provide dandelions to our birds...in Florida where I live they are not common or non existant at all.

You're very welcome, Cindy. I have no idea how it might work there in Florida - maybe over the winter? - but I actually grow italian chicory for the birds, which is pretty close to dandelion - and sold in stores like Whole Foods as actual dandelion greens. You don't need many plants - the leaves keep re-growing after you pick them. I first found the seeds in a high end garden center - but now order them from this place: http://www.growitalian.com/chicory-catalogna-pugliese/ There are many kinds - this particular one is about 12-18 inches tall, so lots of green for a smaller space. They will also grow in deep pots - 12" or more - not as well - but it works. Easy to grow - so if you are so inclined - the result is well worth it.

Hi Maru,

Check the ingredient list on the CeDe and the Snack Attack. I would suggest using the one with whole egg in the highest position on the ingredient list.

The primary benefit of feeding an eggfood is to add animal proteins and animal lipids to the diet (plus vitamins like D3), so go with the one with the most whole egg. You may find it will take 2 or 3 months for your birds to accept a new food, so if one is better than the other stick with it for a couple of months and they will likely accept it
