What do they like?

What kind of houses or nesting do finches like best?

I have a client who is determined (bless his heart) to make my finches lil gourd houses. To date all I have are these lil grass nest you buy at petco which so far they love and lay eggs in! So do they like gourd houses? or even bird houses of any kind? Anyone want to share their housing experiences?

I have tried coconuts and they like them so I think they would like the gourds .Even if they dont in your aviary I think they would look great

Interesting idea.

I use a basket weave covered nest. My societies like it very much. You can get them at most pet stores and they're cheap.

Birds have so many different tastes like us humans, lol

I have Wood nest boxes and White plastic nest boxes and a few wicker, the wood seems to be there favs, except my Societies couldnt get them to go in a nest to save my rear until I gave em a plastic one all my other birds hated, lol

I think the gourd houses would be adorable Id give em a shot but some of them LOVE it,

And then I have several pairs which don't like any of the fake nests I provide, and they build their own nests (but they're in fake plants!). I would expect that in an aviary, but in a 34x18x18 cage--that surprised me.
