Finches keeping their mouth open?

Post by Geronemo3 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 3:46 pm

Hi,
I recently changed the cage of my baby finches as it was getting crowded in their old cage.
They are right now 9 weeks old.
I've noticed that one of them keeps her mouth open every now and than for a few seconds.
Does anyone know what that means?
Are they hungry, scared or angry? (defense mechanism?)
There is food and water already in the cage.

Thanks. :)

If they are sitting normal and just have their mouths open a little it can be a sign of stress...

Finches will do this when they are overheated or scared out of their minds. It sounds like one of them is very nervous with you being so close by.
