eggs
okay just in case this were to happen. if a zebra just laid eggs about a day ago and there were other nest of eggs that were getting ready to hatch in a day, would it be ok to put them in the nest with the freshly laid eggs?

Re: eggs
I did this with my owl's eggs because they would not sit. I put them
into the nest with my societys and they had just hatched their eggs. I have four so they took turns sitting and hatched the eggs. Well just one hatched, but they raised it. It was so funny because I had these big hestlings and a little hatchling.....

ok. how old were the owl eggs becuase i think these eggs are gonna hatch in a day and the zebra finch eggs are only 2 days old. im thinking by the time the zebra eggs hatch the other babies will be 2 weeks old and would they crush the eggs

I wouldn’t recommend this with zebras unless they have a small clutch, apart from the damage to the eggs which you have already mentioned, they will feed the stronger chick first and then the second and so on, so the newly hatched baby will be neglected and might even die of starvation not even mentioning sibling rivalry.

jamezyboo21, is the nest completely abandoned? Are the parents not interested at all?
If that is the case you can try to put them under the Zebs which are due to hatch, but I've found that the parents will not continue to incubate eggs 3-5 days after the first egg has hatched so chances are they will abandon the eggs in any case.
Do you have society finches? They will gladly foster them if needed.

well the only thing now is that i had to buy formula because after coming back form my friends house i found a cardinal fledling in my garage and there were no parents answering his calls and i hardky see cardinals or hear them in my area so i decided to feed him till he can eat on his oown. so far he is doing very well, i just filled his crop back up.

well the babies did good and are just a few days from becoming fledglings. im going to pick them up from my frends house in a few days. the baby cardinal did well as well. i fed it forever and finally one day he flew and to my surprise his parents were at my birdfeeder and as soon as they saw him they started feeding him and he flew off with them. he was already a fledgling when i found him so he was pretty good with flying. but i guess animals are just attracted to me because now that the cardinal is gone, a florida gopher tortoise has made his way into my yard and they are considered a endangered species. i dont know what to do but just let him do his own thing and see if he stay in my back yard or goes off somewhere else.
