I have never used Gatorade for my birds myself, so I can't help there. Are you looking for electrolytes? Here is a home recipe for electrolyes:

I just did a search on the forum for Gatorade and found this link, which says use 50/50 Gatorade and water.

Thanks Guys.

Hubby is at the shops now. Got Gatorade and Baking soda.

I will explain later but my Owl was fine an hour ago and now is on the bottom of the cage, i have it in a hospital cage with a heat lamp on it. I have put seed on the ground and I have put its water down low.

Do i tip its beak into the Gatorade? or do i drop some into its mouth, so scared of drowning it. I am shaking so bad I am so scared right now.

Is it a Hen? If it is I would suspect egg binding and give liquid calcium. If you drop the mixture on the side of the beak, it will probably drink some.

Yep it is a hen.

Hubby is back from the shops, its late here so wont be able to go back out until the morning if it needs liquid calcium.

Will i be able to see if it is egg bound?

The newer ones Gatorade makes, G Series has less salt and some interesting flavors. One flavor sounds odd but to smell it and to taste it...it is refreshing and surprisingly good. It is the G Series Lime Cucumber. It smells and tastes like fresh cucumber.

I keep some on hand for us for daily use and incase the birds need it.

Sounds like egg binding to me. Keep heat on her and get some liquid calcium as soon as you can.

She's been under the heat lamp for about 3 hours now. I just got her out to give her the Gatorade and she was far less fluffed up, and sitting on a perch. She drank it fine, just two drops on the side of her beak.

I will get some calcium first thing in the morning. They have been mating off and on over the last few weeks. So you could be right.

I am just glad i decided to get the heat lamp. I am praying for poor little Buffie, I would be devastated if i lost her, I fought so hard to get the pair.

I am not having much luck this week. My star is sick, i got some Anti-biotics for him. My Chocolate Societies eggs have not hatched, and now Buffie.

Please please don't let it be something that is going to go through all my birds.

I will keep the heat on 24/7.

When i use the calcium, how many days do i do it for? and do i use the Gatorade at the same time?

I also have something called CCC here, it is an anti-biotic that i used earlier today on her, but i doubt she drank any of it.

What is the most important. The Gatorade, the calcium or the CCC?

Thanks.

I agree, with a hen I always suspect eggbinding first. Calcium should be the first supplement used, then if that doesn't work, you can look to other treatments. But give the calcium a chance. Heat is also extremely important, which you are doing already, and you can increase humidity by wringing out a wet towel and draping it over part of the cage (don't get it close to the heat lamp). And never try to force a bird to drink, too easy to aspirate. As others have said, place a drop or two on the side of the beak, usually they will then open their beak and take in some of that.
