Bird IQ comparison

Post by procfamily » Thu Aug 15, 2013 7:59 am

I've decided that of all my breeds, the Gouldian has the lowest IQ.
ten blue capped cordon blues, one male red-cheeked cordon blue, four blue breasted cordon blues, 5 gouldians; two parakeets, 9 owls, five blue-faced parrot finches, two green singers, four stars, 2 shaft tails, four gold breasts, two orange cheeks, two lavenders and sixteen societies.

 But we love them for their beauty anyway! I've never had Javas, but those who have kept them say they are more intelligent than many other species.

Sally, I think Javas are almost like have a small smart parrot. They are very inquisitive and smart. They look and react to you with a bit more than a zebra would. We handfed out a group and honestly they seemed more in tuned to what we were doing compared to Rummy, our parrotlet.

My normal male java (the dad) watches everything, I look at him and think....the light is on!!

My owls are inquisitive as well but not to the degree the javas are.

I would have to say Society and then Gouldians... (Except for my one Gouldian hen - she is a smart one - the rest, not so smart...)

I think the smartest finches I have would be the Cordon Bleu's and Star's. They are the bravest and most inquisitive little birds I have come across!

Excluding finches, I would have to say the canaries are definitely the smartest of the bunch. They are too clever for their own good!

Thanks for the morning laugh. I think I have to agree.
Bless their hearts.
