Female Zebra eye infection 3 years in a row, mystery solved!

Post by Corkysgirl » Sun Sep 01, 2013 3:33 pm

I finally solved the mystery of this eye infection my bird became sick with three years in a row. The last thing I treated it with was Doxycycline btw. Each thing I treated with eventually took care of it. This infection came back yearly on my older fawn zebra female. I had a hunch what it was but it was proven out when I once again gave her rainbow chard from my garden. It seems she gets the eye infection each time I give her anything that had a remnant of something related to the chickens. We use organic chicken manure for the garden...and also tried to feed her the crushed shells. Though the greens were thoroughly washed, the shells baked in the oven.....no matter what...she'd get the eye infection. I wanted to write in case others have the same issue with an eye infection and use garden greens/egg shells.
