Hi guys,
I recently bought (rescued) three gouldians from a home breeder about two weeks ago. This morning I've noticed that my original male and the new male are starting to go bald! (Strangely enough NONE of the Zebs or the Canary are showing signs). The vet has said it is trauma inflicted by another bird, so I separated all 4(the rescues and the original)...and watched....and watched....
I went to get a drink and came back to the scraggly female trying to peck out my males eyes!! She also had a go at the other female and the other male. I've since separated the cranky cow, but I'd like to know if there's anything I can do to help. I'd really hate to have to give her away, but there has to be some other way.
As far as I know they were all housed together when I bought them (plus two other breeding pairs and two fledglings), and my little guy has never had a problem before (besides a bit of self trauma when I confiscated his mirror for cleaning). The three new ones are all adults and I'm starting to think that my original boy is a baby still.
Can someone help? Do I have to separate her, or is it just a case of "bad attitude" that will pass??? My male and the remaining pair are fine together. It's just this female.
