How NOT to clean basket type nests.

Post by jabo322 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 2:01 pm

I discovered yesterday that putting these bamboo and woven nest baskets in the washing machine is not a good idea. I put four in, but when the wash was finished only two had survived. The other two had completely disintegrated  . Fortunately it didn't take that long to fish all the splinters out of the washer  .

Btw, I have put them through the dishwasher with good result. I guess the clothes washer is a bit too rough. Maybe I should have used the gentle cycle :) .

I planted some bird seed. A bird came up. Now I don't know what to feed it.

LOL! I'm sorry, but the idea of putting those bamboo nests in the washing machine is funny!

A dishwasher would probably distort them too. They are cheap enough to just replace them. They have plastic nest boxes that will withstand the dishwasher.

Still laughing....

It's just a little bird poop...

Nothing some boiling hot water and soap can't take care of.

I got such a giggle out of your story :D ....and you are brave for posting your experience....LOL!

Live and learn....I don't have a dishwasher so I won't have to worry about that happening to me.

Thanks for sharing the funny moment!

I hear where you're coming from, but I have done all my pets stuff in the dishwasher for years. I do soak the nests in bleach water to soften things up, then knock off what I can with a stream of water. Hot water, soap and bleach take care of anything else just fine :D .
