So I'm a little freaked out now reading all the info about mites. Can anyone tell me if this looks like mites on this new society. There is also some concern with hairless under the beak in neck area. I really did not notice this before so it could have been there when purchased.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry for so many double pics. I described the area under the beak as hairless meant featherless.....lol.

Re: Scaley mites ???
I don't think you should stress too much. That looks like "mechancial" damage from the bird flying up into the top of the cage / perhaps when it was caught. It may have bumped its head. My birds get that same look when they have a night fright in the aviary. They bump their heads at the top of the aviary and sheer off their feathers. They grow back in due time.
I treat all new birds for mites as a rule. Rather safe than sorry.

Re: Scaley mites ???
Thanks. I appreciate the advice. In the past (years ago) I raised various kinds of hookbills (lovebirds, Quaker, parrotlets, cockatiels, nan day conures) and never had any face/leg mite issues.
