Pied AND Red-eyed Society Finch Morph?

Post by Sheather » Wed Jul 30, 2014 6:56 pm

What would this be called?

It's difficult to see, I know, but the youngest chick (left) in my current clutch of six, now 13 - 16 days old, is almost all white with very clearly unpigmented red/pink eyes. At first I thought she was a creamino, but now she is getting in some darker chestnut-brown feathers on one shoulder and down her back (visible on her left side if you look very closely here). I wasn't aware of any pied mutations with such a dark brown which can also have unpigmented eyes. Her parents are unknown, but all of my adult birds are either chocolate, fawn, or chestnut pieds with dark eyes. Of her siblings, 4 are chocolate pieds and one is a chestnut pied, and they all have dark eyes.

I'm calling her Rain. She is pictured with older brother (obviously gender is entirely guesstimated right now) Sylvan.

My chocolate and fawn pied society pair always produce at least one red eyed fawn pied chick. The others have black eyes. So, that seems normal and possible genetically.
