Hi Guys,
Can anyone help please, my Star hen has been looking good one minute then fluffed up with her head tucked in behind her shoulders she will spend some of the day like this then look fine, she is eating well and flying well, I've even witnessed her mating just yesterday. She has been like this for weeks now but as I say on and off! Her poop looks OK the vent doesn't appear to be dirty or wet, I've already treated her with coccivet and wormout but she still behaves like this, please click on the you tube link below to see for yourself. Any advise is much appreciated.

Re: HELP! Sick Star Finch Hen
Jenk --- I'm sorry to hear your girl is unwell.
I would keep her supplied with a heat lamp at all times. That will help her maintain her body heat, so her body's resources can go toward fighting whatever is ailing her.
I'd also give her some electrolytes in her water, like NV powder or a homemade electrolyte solution.
It's also a good idea to give her a good multivitamin.
All those measures should help her fight off whatever is ailing her.
I'd give her a couple days to see if she improves.
If not, I would take her to the vet.
If that's not an option, I might try some antibiotics to see if that helps, I would go with antibiotics, assuming it's an infection.
