Simple genetics question

Post by Jason in TX » Fri Aug 22, 2014 6:36 pm

I know little about gouldian genetics, and lately dont have time to learn. My question is simple. I have an orange head (salmon) blue back male. What female colour would give me the highest likelihood of having blue back offspring? Thanks in advance!

Highest chance would be a silver or blue hen. But the genetic diversity associated with the Blue color is not large enough so it will produce low quality birds.

Your best bet is to get a Green bird that is split to blue or a Yellow bird that is split to blue.
