Pics from Cleburne Show in Texas

Post by finchmix22 » Sun Oct 05, 2014 11:06 am

I went to the Cleburne show last week and took some pics. There were 138 finches entered, so every bird that made the top bench got a point or more! I entered my juvenile owls-N/F and Fawn, SGPF and RTPF's, GS, and a Society pair for the pairs.
One of my N/F male owls placed first in the Owls, but didn't win the Autralian group. One SG male placed 2nd in RTPF category. A GS male placed first in Serinus category and 4th, I think, in the African group. My Society's placed 5th in the Pairs group.

So, I didn't win, but it was fun and very helpful to hear the judges comments when he moves one finch in front of another, he explains his reasons.

Here are some more pics of some of my favorites in the Parrot Division!

For those in Texas who know Cheryl Burns, she won Best in Show with her BH.YB.YB. gouldian. I don't know if I listed the genetics correctly because the gouldian was all yellow. I don't what happened to my pic of this one. My pics of the Best in Show did not come out for some reason.

Wow, the birds entered into shows are beautiful! They're so well coloured up.

Thanks; however, my finches didn't get past their species. When they grow a little older they may do better. We'll see. The competition was tough at this show.

I can't wait to go to one next year hopefully when school has calmed down a bit. I would have had a blast going and entering my birds. I need to do some research on the divisions and categories for showing as I'd have no clue I'm afraid.

The bird that won the finch division and then went on to win Best in Show was shown by Laura Erwin. She and her husband have some really quality birds, so they will be tough to beat on the show circuit. Laura just moved out of the novice class herself, so that is quite an accomplishment. Cheryl placed 2nd and 3rd with a Society finch and a Cherry finch. And I have to say that my Blue-capped Cordon Blue male placed 6th, which really surprised me--I did nothing to get him ready for this show. He isn't even my bneeding, I just wanted to take a few birds to the show, he beat the one that I had bred.

Thanks for taking those photos, Deborah, I didn't even take any at this show. I'll try to get some at the Houston show.

Sally
Oops. I thought the gouldian was Cheryl's. I don't think I met Laura Erwin. That gouldian was beautiful and I don't normally like the mutations.
