I didn't worry about it because I live in a one-bedroom condo with tall ceilings and not much furniture because I'm currently remodeling/painting/just moved in.
After I was done with what I was doing in the aviary I spent 15 minutes catching the birds. However, when I did a headcount I noticed that one of the Bronze Winged Mannikin's is MIA. I have no idea where he could've gone and I spent the better part of two hours looking for him. As I said I don't have much furniture because I'm currently remodeling and my bedroom and bathroom door was closed when I got out. (I checked both rooms just to be sure). Also, no exterior windows or doors were open. But I still can't find him.
The only remote option for him getting out would've been to enter one of the a/c vents. But the AC was blowing full blast and it's dark in there so I don't see him going in there. Just to check I remove some of the grates and looked into the vents and saw nothing. I have opened all cabinet doors, drawers, moved the refrigerator, checked the trash can, and opened and checked behind all window coverings. I even emptied the vacuum cleaner just in case he got vacuumed up when I was picking up some of the stuff that got spilt on the floor.
As a last ditch effort I turned off every light in the condo and searched every corner and under all furniture using a flashlight just in case I had missed something.
I don't know what to do. I assume that if I scared him to death I would at least be able to find a body. So far I have found nothing. I even checked all the nest and behind all plants in the aviary just in case he was hiding in there.
Do you have any advice? And if he did get out how? I know Bronze Winged Mannikin's are tiny but there wasn't ANY space that could have let him get outside.
