The second and fourth birds in the Owl photo do not look like Owls completely...or is that just me? There's definitely some melanism or possibly hybridization (Zebras are a likely culprit) evident...

But very nice photos.

The 2nd photo is a zebra hen, i don't see a 4th photo, here' s a photo of what to expect when you have chicks although these are a fostered clutch due to troublesome parents, i still don't know what's going on in parent reared clutches as disturbing nests so far is a no-no with owls

Well you can clearly see the difference in your own photos. In photo 1 the Fawn Owl on the left has a clear white breast. It appears from what I can see the normal on the right does as well.

In the third photo with all four Owls perched together the second and fourth bird when counting from left to right have very dark, muddy breasts. Not white. Often young birds will not have the crisp white of an adult bird. But I haven't ever seen a breast like that.

Here is Roy Beckham's webpage on Owl finches where you can see that clear white breast.

In that article there is a link to an Owl x Zebra hybrid.

cindy and Sally what do you think?

I can't see the birds well enough to tell much about them at all in that third photo. I tried enlarging it, but couldn't do so. I would need to see a much closer, clearer photo.
