Yes, lizards, mice and snakes, even ants, can be a very real threat to baby birds (adult birds too, if they are not fast enough).

I know someone who had eggs missing from his aviary and then questioned whether or not the local lizard could have been involved. I said yes and this photo just proves it!
Ants can be a big problem. They will kill a clutch of chicks within a day or two if they get into the nest. I had it happen with a clutch of newly hatched gouldians and it was devastating. The ants were coming in through the back of the aviary and I didn't see them until it was too late
