Blue capped cordon bleu question

Post by kczgyrl » Mon Apr 11, 2016 9:02 am

I am having a problem with my hen dropping eggs from the perch instead of laying in the nest. Both cock and hen built the nest.....it is not overly full.....plenty of room etc.

They have egg food and I give live mealworms twice a day.

Should I let them continue as a pair or replace hen? (I have another hen in a mixed flight)

Thanks for any advice/help

If this has been going on for some time, I'd be tempted to switch mates. Sometimes a pair just doesn't hit it off, though if this pair has made a nest together, that usually is a sign that they have bonded. If this is their first breeding season, and they are just getting started, then I'd leave them together, give them a chance to figure it out.
