for the past week I had been working afternoons and other than feeding and watering I hadnt spent any time in the aviary.
went in today to do some cleaning and what do I find........a nest built on the ground by a pair of my painted finches containing 3 eggs. didnt have the heart to remove the eggs & destroy the nest, little buggers must have worked day & night to find the nesting materials that they had as the aviary was to my knowledge free of any ( but what do I know
).so long story short, nests went back into the aviary, also green and live food re-appeared plus nesting materials.
gouldians went straight for the food as usual but almost every other pair of birds quickly selected a nest & started to build.
hopefully it's a sign of a great breeding season ahead
