Thinking of buying a pair but not sure which. Which are better in terms of singing abilities, nature, breeding, etc?
Cheers

Oh my, two totally different species!
The siskin is probably the better singer and easier to breed.

I agree with w.l. (Hi!) - I have kept and bred both species. The siskins sing more and more consistently. They need hardly any live food even when raising young ones and are perfectly happy with an open canary nest. They do like - and need - oily seeds like niger and sprouted seeds. They also like to be high up (above eye level) if possible (just like the red hooded siskins and European goldfinches).
Strawberries sure are beautiful when they get enough sunlight to develop deep red color. Also, they build amazing closed nests out of coconut fiber. BUT mine needed tons of mini mealworms when they had babies and would promptly toss their babies if they ran out of mealworms. Other people here on the forum had strawberries raise their young without live food. Mine never touched egg food. Go figure. In my opinion the siskins would be a better choice.
Good luck, Iso
