HI,
I have 1 yellow face star finch in a small flock of red faced stars (5). Will she pick up a partner? Her mate died out of the blue in a cold snap over winter (they were very happy and had been nesting together, this was over 2 months ago). Will she be-friend one of the red face stars or should I get another yellow face male?
Thanks...

She will definitely be-friend one of the Red-faced Star finches (if he's not related to her).
I currently have a Yellow-faced Star hen breeding with a Red-faced Star male. They have at least 1 egg (as of yesterday).
Good luck and please keep us posted.
Liz

I also have a yellow-faced hen who has hooked up with a red-faced male. I'd say that she'll be fine.

Ok great. So the fact that she is the only yellow face wont matter?
Thanks guys!

The yellow face is just a mutation. It would no different than breeding a black check Zebra to a normals or a fawn Shaft-tail to a normal. If the male carries the yellow face gene, you could get more yellows.
