How long does it take for zebra finches to hatch their eggs?

Post by mjstudios97 » Wed Aug 31, 2016 2:18 pm

The last egg of this clutch was laid around August 17th - 18th so it has been around 13-14 days when I found the parents sitting tightly on them. I read that eggs should take around 12-16 days. How long did it take exactly for your finches to pop out of their eggs with recorded dates to track time? No signs of spoilage on the eggs, and they were checked for fertility in which all eggs were fertile.

Normally about 13-14 days but really does depend on when the hen started to incubate,

By rights it should any time now if the eggs are fertile and still ok

Just give it time, and be patient :D .

After being too impatient, and breaking the only fertile egg in a Green Singer clutch, and having the tiny chick die in my hands, I have made it a point to always leave the eggs for another week after the estimated hatching time.

I'm with Elana. I always leave the eggs an extra week. My first finch clutch ever, I was about to chuck the eggs. Two females had laid in the same nest. 9 out of 10 eggs all eventually hatched.
