can 2 males and 1 female pair up?

all my gouldian finches are live together in a big cage, I put there two nest boxes, soon two pairs had eggs. However one of the pairs is bit odd.

my silver hen originally paired up with a red face green back, but another dominating black face green back fight the red face away..

now when the silver hen sit on eggs, the red face will get into the nest box as well, the black face sometimes chase him away, sometimes ignore it. Now it looks like 3 of them are sharing the nest box, this is bit strange to me...

I know this isn't what you're asking, but.......I've had a male canary breed with 2 hens, throughout one spring. They were not individually housed, but in an aviary. He helped feed both nests.

At times community breeding works, but usually in my experience it doesn't.

If you have an odd bird that is disturbing the nesting pair, I would remove him into a different cage.

If you have two males fighting over your girl and the nest, the odds are that no one will concentrate on sitting on the eggs or raising the chicks if they do hatch. At times the odd male may toss the eggs or the chicks from the nest if he thinks they are not his own.
