Australian yellow Gouldian question.

Hi,
I picked up a pair of Aust yellows today at a bird sale and had a question about the genetics. From what I have read in the past from books & websites these are a recessive mutation (like the blue) mainly found here in Australia. Unfortunately none of the genetic programs I have include these guys. Would they have the same out come as blue back gouldian’s?

I found them listed on this site http://users.skynet.be/fa398872/engoulm08.htm and it shows some of the splits having yellow patches ect. Is this normal or are they like the blues in that they can be split but won't show.

I kinda answered my own question I found a section in the book "A Guide to Gouldian finches and there mutations"

It says the Aust Yellow is Recessive and has a table that shows the offspring.

The only thing that confused me was all the photos I've seen of this mutation show it with a white chest and one section also refers to it as the 'Australian White-breasted yellow'. Does anyone know if you can still have purple breast Australian yellows?

Unless I'm not understanding your question, don't you have purple-breasted yellows in your pic?

Yea sorry I'll explain a bit better.

I purchased the pair as "Australian Yellows" which are a recessive yellow unlike the normal yellow backed.

However since then I've read that Australian yellows normally have a white chest not purple. So i'm worried I've been sold normal yellow backed instead. I'm hoping someone will know the genetics of the Aust yellows and be able to tell me if they are really Australian yellows or not.

hi there yes they are normal yellowback. aus yellow occur in 2 breast colours they ome in white breast and lilac breast and occurs in the 3 head colours.
