I found a couple of gouldian eggs today in a seed hopper (don't have nesting boxes in aviary yet as waiting for gouldians to moult before letting them start breeding)
However I have a canary who has just started sitting and thought I may as well give her the eggs incase they are fertile.
If they do hatch would a canary raise a gouldian baby ?

I've never heard of a canary fostering a gouldian but you could try. The likelyhood of the eggs being fertile is probably slim in my experience if they were just laid in the seed hooper and abandoned. The other thing you could do is to leave them alone and see if they will make nest there and incubate the eggs.

I'd say no, canary eggs tend to be blueish from what I remember when I had them, and the begging patterns are very different. Not to mention the blue around baby gould's mouths...that'll probably cause the canaries to toss them or abandon their entire clutch all together.
I don't have any finches right now but I used to, I'll try to provide my knowledge around the forum
