Shortest time to lay first egg?

Post by L in Ontario » Fri Nov 21, 2008 8:09 pm

Does anyone know the shortest timeframe possible between the mating act and actually laying the first egg?

I know the hen can store the sperm for up to 14 days so it's possible she doesn't lay the first egg until 14 days later (that's the longest timeframe). But how quickly can an egg formed and laid after they mate?

In Gouldians, I've heard 5 days minimum.
