Anyone have an avairy with a pond inside?

Hi all,

I am going to put a pond in the back yard, something like 8x15 feet or so. I was thinking of enclosing it to keep hawks and raccoons out so I can have fish in the pond.

Since this will be enclosed, I could set it up as an aviary. Keep the hawks out and the finches in. The enclosure would have a vestibule to prevent losing any finches.

Does any have an aviary like this? Should I be worried about the birds downing in the pond? The pond will have a waterfall as well.

I'm in Northern California, so it gets fairly cold in the winter at night. I could build them a shelter an put a heater in it.

Any comments, concerns, or suggestions welcome.

The problem the finch's could drown ,but if you made it with wire screen or hardware cloth over the fish part I think that could work ?
