Female zebra finch problem?

My female zebra is opening and closing her mouth like every second.but then i moved her cage from the sun and she stopped! is it like lizards when they open there mouth to cool down? please help :?

It may have been too hot in the sun if there was nowhere she could go to get in any shade. Cages should only be partially in direct sunlight.
