Post by Robert79 » Mon Jul 20, 2009 9:02 am

Hi , my birds they have blood/red mites :( . I have home SCATT and Iverlux. Is one of these two products good for eliminating the mites and is it "yes" which one is the first choose and how to administered ?
I also intend to sprayed them with a pyrethrin insecticide and then the second day I will move the birds in a new cage and moving them to an unifected area of my home .
PS I have birds under 6 months - if is it "yes" generally to my question
is it also good for birds under 6 months ?
thanks

Not sure on Scatt or Iverlux but I use a "mite spray".

I get it from the local petsmart. I dont know what kind of stores you have in your area but I spray my cages once a month with this stuff when I am cleaning them. My birds get sprayed once every few months. Probably planning to do every 6 months.
Goulds, Owls, Gold Breasts, Stars, Zebras, Societies
An obscene number of chicks and eggs
And an incredibly rare St. Goldena Breast finch
Anyone want some finches???

SCATT/Iverlux are only good for air sac mites and will not work against blood sucking or feather mites.

For those you need something like Pestex or Avian Insect Liquidator.
