I have a male zebra finch and just bought a female for him. She looks very good with no obvious signs of trouble.

How long is typical quarantine?

Like you said, 30 days. A lot of people with a larger flock who don't want to risk all of their birds will quarantine for longer, even 2-3 months. But since it's only 2 zebras a month should be fine.

Are these the only two birds you have? When I first started in with finches, I didn't quarantine at all (didn't know I should), then I started quarantining for two weeks. As the flock grows, the quarantine period gets longer, as there is more at stake.
