Plant Identification?

Post by GOULDYGIRL » Wed Aug 12, 2009 5:29 pm

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had an idea what kind of plant Imagethis is?

Hubby says it's edible and very popular in Europe. People put it in salad, etc. I was just wondering what is was first, and if it is ok to eat, maybe I can give some to my birds :0)

Thanks,
Renee

Go to Google Images and type in "purslane weed". I think it's a match for the plant in your pic.

Thanks for the info Liz. I didn't have much time to reseach it, but I did look at the pics and I'm pretty sure that's what I have. From the little I've read so far, it seems like it's very nutritious.

Thanks for the info Bill. That's what my husband was talking about, putting on salads, etc.

I never knew purslane was edible, either--I'll have to offer some to my birds!

If you decide to use this in your gardens in your yard, beware rabbits love it. I bought 20 nice full plants, half were gone within a month.
