Hi Everyone,
I have just bought some `feast` eggfood from the birdcare company for my green singers. Does anybody recommend this food? and should i serve it wet or dry?
Thanks
Ian

I love Feast products. I offer it dry in a shallow cup and in the morning I will add a little shredded boiled egg to the top. I usually do not mix it in as here in Florida in the outside aviaries it is so hot that I am afraid it would spoil. This way the birds usually eat the boiled egg first and then empties the feast within a day to 3 days.
Also with fledglings that are being weaned I will put some in a shallow container and add a little millet off of a spray to it. They take to this easy to eat food right away. Over the days I will continue to add other millets and canary seed to it and the transition from feast food to seed is smooth.
I would not wet it though.

I think my finches prefer it dry too but what about chicks? If they are feeding chicks with it do you still feed it dry or do you moisten it slightly (or do the adults do that)?
Thanks
How is Florida? Is it the land of eternal sunshine that we see on our tv screens here in the gloomy uk

I never moisten the eggfood...I guess the parents will drink water and create the right mix for the chicks. Once the chicks leave the nest they too will eat it dry.
We have been getting some much needed rain here lately, but yes...it is the land of sunshine.... that's why I moved here in 1989

... not to mention all the great seafood.... caught a big redfish off the dock yesterday and 18 bluecrabs in the crabpot.....
Another yummy dinner

Great, thanks for the tip - they certainly like it better dry.
Big Redfish and Bluecrabs....
It sounds like a dream, we have had one of the worst summers here again. Keeping finches must be so much easier in that sub tropical climate.
I am just going to check to see if my heating needs to be switched on in my bird room yet.
