Post by jamezyboo21 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 3:38 am

Can anyone tell me if these are BBCB'S?? I have a pair of BCCB's and they have way more blue then the new BBCB'S if that's what they are. And if they are a male and female. I havent heard singing yet but the lady told me they were only 4 months old.

I am not a expert with Cordons, but I believe they are two females.
1 pair of GB waxbills
1 pair of Societies
1 pair of Zebras (CFW&Normal) + 8 eggs

I have never even seen the Blue-breasted variety, except in photos, so not much help. At four months old, they probably haven't done their molt from juvie into adult plumage yet, and juvies usually look like adult hens. However, on my BCCBs, my juvie males always have a lot more color than the juvie hens. And don't forget, with CBs, both sexes sing, so that is not a clear indication of sex.

Don't knowabout the young blues but that is one beautiful Goldbreast

But seriously, congrats on the new cordons. Probably too young to sex yet, like Sally said. Also blue breasted are a brighter blue on the breast than blue capped. You probably have young BCCB :D

They definitely look like young birds, which means they still don't have their permanent colors and you won't be able to know if they're BBCBs or their sex.
