Green singers and Black cheek zebras pictures 3/28
I have a new pair of Green singers and 2 pairs of Black Cheek zebras!
The Green singers are in a 35hx32longx21wide flight cage. The male has been singing almost non-stop this afteroon. They are making themselves at home.
The two pair of Black cheek are much bigger than regular zebras. I had them in a 36x18x18 flight cage with 2 nest boxes but it became apparent that they needed to be separated as single pairs. Each pair are now in their own cages and settling into nest boxes.
Through selling some of my zebra and shaftail offspring I have gotten to know a few other finch breeders that have some of the same species I have and some I don't. I met a really nice fellow that bought some of my shaftails, he has green singers and a big aviary. he has RCCBs (from Miami) so I may be able to introduce a new bloodline to mine it they produce for me.
Oh!!!! one of my pairs of owls was mating!!!!!

Re: Green singers and Black cheek zebras
The Black cheek, one pair would not pose! The female from the second pair still is a bit young and her cheeks aren't completely there yet. The first pair are larger, the male is a big guy!
Both pairs took right to the nest boxes, I should be able to get unrelated pairs from them!!!!
The pictures aren't as clear as I would like, the one pair was all over the place!

Re: Green singers and Black cheek zebras
Thank you, both species are settling in nicely and readily taking to the seed, Zupreem pellets, dried eggfood/Hatched/ground Roudybush/Miracle Meal/Orlux golden along with the Herb salad.
The zebras have been busy build this afternoon.

Re: Green singers and Black cheek zebras
Candace, the Green singer male has a very long, sweet song. They are in a flight in our front living room/dining room. There is less activity in that room. I was in the kitchen the first time he samg for a long period. My heart skipped a beat! I was thrilled he sang so soon!
Gouldians, maybe the next time I go back down to Naples in May. I saw a lovely pair of red heads.
