Is white breast more dominant?

Post by GOULDYGIRL » Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:18 pm

Hi All,

Since my juvenilles finally decided to start molting recently, I've noticed all 5 babies are going to be white breasted! I knew 2 were for sure. My silver and my only hen, but looks like my blue and 2 normal males will be wb as well. My hen Daisy is a wb and Jinx who is pastel is purple of course but odviously he carries wb but I'm just so surprised they all turned out wb. Is that odd or luck of the draw or is white really more dominant then purple?

Thanks,
Renee

I think it is just luck of the draw. My first clutch had 2 PB, one WB....second clutch...1 PB...and third clutch, definately 2 WB, and the 3rd is beginning to look like WB as well.

I think it's just weird, not one purple breast. The younger blue babies are from a different mother, so it will be interesting to see how they turn out. I'm pretty sure that mother is split for wb as well. I am really excited that my first blue baby is wb, I just love that combination. For my first couple of clutches, I got a lot of cool surprises :) Oh and having wb rh's is a first for me too, I always wanted that combo ;)

My one with the funny hairdo, just let me know the other day that he is a male. He will have a WB and I am sooo hoping for a RH, of all the GB I find that colour combination sooo stunning. :D

I believe if you have a white breasted bird you know that BOTH parents are white breasted or split to white breast. The chick needs to get a white breasted gene from both parents. Lilac and purple breast are both dominate to white breast.
