The worms are tiny first, so don't give up quite yet! Look closely, maybe you have some in there already...
I have my container covered with a "lid" that I made from plastic window screen material. This lets the air flow in, keeps the beetles in, and keeps other insects out.
But I have to admit that I am getting tired of breeding them too...

I always forget to change the apples and veggies that I put in and they get moldy. And they haven't started to effectively reproduce either. I can't imagine ever producing enough worms anyway, my finches gobble them up like crazy....
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.
