He had a major improvement, then took a turn for the worse. I have decided after two months of medication, surgery, daily irrigation, etc., to let him go. I am giving him pain meds and hoping that he isn't suffering. His eye is swollen shut an red, he is fluffed up and barely eating. I expect him to go fairly quickly. Thank you for checking in...now I am just trying to figure out how and when to get a new mate for my remaining finch. This has been a really sad ( and expensive) last two months.

So sorry that you are going through this. You are an angel and are both in my prayers. I hope he goes peacefully. Always remember him as he was when he was well. And know that you did everything you could for him, including when to let him go... :(

Thank you, Ginene! You know, when I first got these birds, I was fascinated by them. I never had any idea that I would grow to love them like I have. When I talk to my friends about it, they almost look at me like I am nuts. Like a goldfish is dying or something. But Julio has a great personality and I really am going to miss him.
