A couple of weeks ago, I placed two gouldian pairs in their own breedings cage with their own nests. Then my family and I went out of town this past weekend, and when we got back, my blue back female and yellow back male had laid one egg. Without touching it, I looked at it and it seems to be cracked

, and neither of the parents are sitting much at all. If it does indeed have a crack, I'm thinking about taking it out to see if they'll try again. Then if they don't sit or pay much attention to any eggs they lay, I might see if I can use some societies to sit, since they did such a fantastic job with their babies.
My other pair of gouldians have been going in and out of their nest, and at least one is sitting most of the time. I haven't checked the nest yet, because there's almost always one inside, but I might take a little peek today.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The second pair bonded when they were in the flight cage, but the first pair have never seemed that interested. I was shocked to see that egg, even if it is cracked.
