Thanks everybody --

The little Blackbellies are really fun if you haven't thought about owning them before... they are kind of secretive but they have a very pretty single note call and are super bright in their spring plumage. They are also very peaceful little birds and like to spend a lot of time on the bottom of the cage -- which I think adds some interest to a larger aviary type cage.
The male has a beautiful little courtship dance (always performed on the floor of the cage which may explain why it's important for them to have "ground" as opposed to a grate) he spreads his beautiful tail like a fan and hops around her with a piece of grass in his beak.
The Soc's are very puzzling with this little baby Blackbellied FF. They forget to feed him if he is under them with their other eggs -- if I put him in front of them and he begs they will both feed him pretty good.

Of course he can't stay there where it is too cold so I am trying to figure out why they won't feed him unless I put him in front of them.
