color of baby gouldians heads
I have my first gouldians!!! Yay!
I have seen pictures of week old gouldian babies and some had blackish color heads, others pinkish colored.
Mine are one and two weeks old.
The genetic forecaster says I have a chance for a red headed blue from one pair and a red headed pastel blue from the other.
All my babies have blackish color heads. So does this mean no red headed blue and no red headed pastel blue?

Re: color of baby gouldians heads
Do you have pictures of them? We could tell you their colors by looking at them.
Your first pair would give you the following:
Males:
OH and RH Pastels and Dilutes (aka SF Yellows)
Females:
BH YTB, BH, OH and RH Blues and Greens
The second pair would give you the following:
Males:
RH Green and Blues
Females:
BH and RH Greens and Blues
All these babies are split to other head colors but your first pair would give you the Pastels and the other pair will give you Blues. But in both cases the hens will have the ability to be BH's.

The color of these babies in this link will help with the body color - if you have Pastels and or Blues.

Here are pics of the babies.
The pictures with three babies come from a RH/BH/OH , PB , GB , split to blue male and an OH , WB , Yellow , split to blue female. There is a chance of a pastel from this pair.

Is anyone able to tell at all by the pics if I have a pastel or a blue.
I would have posted more pictures, but it would only let me do three.

The picture that has 3 babies look green or dilute to me - no pastels.
The picture that has 2 babies could be blue but it is too hard to tell. Look at the nodules next to their beak - they have three on each side. The top and bottom with be blue. If they are blue babies the middle nodule will be white and if they are anything else like green or dilutes they will be yellow.
The head colors are normal looking - the skin color doesn't tell you they are going to be BH.
