I'm not sure what the background is on any of these birds. I bout them at a pet store who know nothing.
I really don't see the black breast in the crest?
These 3 are in a quarentine cage and as I stated in my earlier post I don't plan to breed these together. I bought the 2 fawn hens to go with other males I already have. Though I wasn't planning on pairing her with my black cheek.... You really think this hen is split to black cheek????? I guess I don't see that either. Thanks for the insight, looking to learn more on identifying the mutations. Please tell me what you are seeing that identifies them. Thanks.

Beautiful birds, love the female she looks so cute :) And all that messy 'hair' haha, so adorable.

LeWi is probalby talking about the fact that large and unusual cheek patches along with small tear marks can indicate split bb.
And that usually long tear mark on the female could mean split bc.

Though I find it very hard to be sure of splits like that unless you know the family history of the bird #-o

Thanks for the info.... I wasn't planning on trying to bred a pure line of zebra mutations. I have just mutts these days :D The gouldians I keep family records , the zebras I just family band so that I can sell unrelated pairs. Years ago I bought pure pairs but eventually they found themselves in a large aviary and the cross breeding commenced... so now who knows what will pop out. Everyonce in a while I will pick up a new bloodline that strikes my fancy but am back to pairing them up individually in breeder cages. Maybe I will set the fawn hen up with my BC male and the crest with my BF hen. I only have 12 adults and 4 fledglings. Early summer I sold all of mine to another breeder...all 150 of them

Whoa 150! You must have a lot of space for your birds :D

If you have a bc male it would be fun to see what you get :) and that would show you if she is really split or not ^^

I am building a cage so I can have the possibility of having 10-12 adult birds, but how I wish I had much more room =P~
Wish I could get gouldians as well, there is no one importing them to Iceland at the moment and that costs a lot :( There has been an idea on an icelandic bird forum to get eggs in another country and hide them and get them to iceland and let our zebbies raise the chicks lol

This is what I did have over the winter  They loved this big covered 17 foot x 9 foot space. I now have red throat parrot finches in there.

Nice 'Fro. 8)
Crested birds are so cute :p
I saw a crested society I think, and an amazing Zebra hen she had orange all over and her tail reminded me of a kookaburra :o
