Red headed and seagreen Parrot Finches (new pictures)

Just went out to the aviary and realized all three babies are fledged. I was not expecting this. In true form they are not flyers yet and I'm worried that the new parents will not feed. I'm bummed cause I was going to clean the aviary tomorrow so the floor would be fresh before fledge day. I dare not do it tonight cause I don't want to cause too much disturbance on the first day out... Should I put them back in the nest? I'm scared it is going to be cold tonight...

I get so nervous. Looks like all are normal red headed.

I took some picts and will post them later tonight

Parents will feed them on the ground. Most times they fledge and spend 24 to 72 hours on the ground and learning how to fly. Don't clean the aviary. Congrats on the chicks

Congrats on the fledgling.

They don't seem to ever want to fledge on schedule.....either late or early

Beautiful fledgies!

I've read that it's very common for parrot finches to start a new brood while the old is still fledging. In fact, many breeders suggest that 2 nests always be supplied to PFs for this very purpose. Everything I've read by other breeders states that the parents do just fine feeding the new hatchlings AND fledglings until weaning. One Aussie talked about the fledglings poking their heads in the nest and confusing the newly hatched chicks that think it's their parents come to feed them.

Sounds like you have a great situation going with your PF's!

I've researched a lot on PF's because I just started with them, too.
