Powdered supplements containg egg, soy, ground insects

Post by cindy » Tue Mar 16, 2010 7:55 pm

This is a site I stumbled across a while back when looking for products. The information was on my other computer and I never got around to ordering from them. They have dried insects.

I may try some of their products.

I put a product (I think it's called Goldie??) that is for "insectivores") that has honeycomb and insects into my egg food and I've had no complaints. :D

Oddly enough, and I'm sure it's from the honey, it smells pretty darn good and the texture is nice and soft. It sort of freaks me out when I knead it into the egg food because I enjoy the feel of it and then I realize what it is I'm playing around with!

The Goldie Eggfood for Insectivores by Quiko. I found it the best commercial eggfood! But I haven't been able to find a local supplier anymore, and it costs a lot to ship just for one item (I only have 4 birds.) Mine really liked it. They also seem to like the Orlux eggfood, though my GB preferred Quiko. I never bothered to mix it in with the eggfood, I just sprinkled it on top. And now I must admit they only get the commercial food. It's easier for someone who works full time and worried about spoilage. :)

I'm pretty sure this is actually the company that manufactures what Laraine at LadyGouldian sells - I think they are also known as Skippios?
Otherwise they are just selling very similar products..

I wish I had known you were interested - I bought a good bit of the No Soya egg food from Laraine when I had my cordon bleus and barely used it. I just threw out about a lb of it because I am no longer making fresh egg food now that I don't have the CBs.

try http://www.foryourbird.com/page/foryourbird/CTGY/quiko

They also sell bulk Zupreem pellets 10lbs for $19.99 plus about $8 in shipping. This is great compared to other places where it is almost double in cost. The natural came repackaged, the fruit flavored came in the original manufactures 10 lb bag.

They sell seed and othe products, the list of manufacters is to the left.

Yes, this is Skip, he changed the name of the company. Here is the page that explains the change

They have great products and great prices.

If you ever have the meal left over you can always incoporate it into a cornbread mix to feed the goulds. Great for breeding and feeding parents. Also moulting birds and juvies.

I've never really grabbed onto the whole corn bread idea for birds ..
Corn is just a sugary carb - there really is nothing nutritious about it :/

I tried feeding the skippios plain but they wouldn't eat it not mixed into the egg food.. so there was no sense in me hanging onto it

No but if you substitute the soy/rice/egg powder for some of the cornbread it is nutritious. :D

Mine wouldn't eat it on its own, either; just mixed in with the egg food. Picky little buggers. It smells so good, if I were a bird, I'd be all over it!

I first posted the http://oregonfeederinsects.com/Aviarysup.html back in March and forgot about this site, it was odd this morning seeing it pop up...I may try this now since mine are getting tired of the ABBA eggfood. Candace I'll have to try your idea.

I've tried the other types of Quicko but not the one with insects, mine seemed to like them.
