Wishing you all the best with your CB's. [-o<

I did notice something in your post though, seems although you say that you have had no luck breeding all the birds that you have tried so far have been the most difficult.

Thanks, lovemyfinch. I doubt I'll have any luck with the CBs. I'm having a streak of bad luck with all. I bet even if I get Societies I will have no luck. But anyway, bad luck is nothing new to me. Thanks anyways though.

I bet if you got some zebbies you would have babies all over the place within a month  =D> This is why I stopped myself for now on other species, I just am not sure if my experience is up to par for the more difficult species yet. :?

Then I had Cut-throats and they never bred either. Then a pair of Strawberries. The female did lay lots of eggs but not even one fertile one. I have a pair of Green Singers now but the female is so aggressive with the male I had to separate them. And my CBs...well...
I dont think I'm going to try bee pollen or anything though.
I agree with the others, you're picking difficult species to breed.

I had my budgies in a large cage in the living room for about 6 years without any breeding attempts. As soon as I transferred them into my new walk-in aviary (a former sunroom, 11 by 11 feet) with some finches, they started breeding attempts immediately and tried to use all sorts of places as nest boxes. (I let them breed twice now by providing a nest log.) With the budgies I very soon had cordon bleus who successfully bred also, as well as other waxbills and button quail...

I'm pretty sure that the setup in the living room is not an ideal breeding environment for waxbills. They are very secretive and need to be able to hide the nest completely. Mine built a nest in a hanging planter with fake ivy that was so high up that I couldn't possibly peek in. To the day the babies hatched I hadn't even seen them. :-)

If you really want to have finches breed you should get another species, such as zebras. Otherwise, just enjoy your birds and be sure that they will be happy without breeding as long as you provide a healthy and nice environment. :D
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

Well, actually they're doing everything that's involved in nesting except for the mating. The male built the nest. They both did the mating dance. The female laid 5 eggs. The male was doing the incubation the majority of time BUT like I said, they never actually mated. So I dont get it. Well, I candled the eggs today and just like I thought, none had anything. So I threw them out. The male was sitting the past 5 or 6 days for nothing. I guess despite them being birds, apparently they dont know anything about the birds and the bees.

Well, I hope you start having better luck with them. Muine finally decided to breed again. I think they just hate being around ppl. I had their cage near the garage so when I came outside their cage was like 20 ft from the kitchen. But a few days ago I put the cage in the back yard and I heard them singing to eachother so I watched them the other day and they have built a nest so hopefully eggssoon. I really hope yours do something. Mine nvr got comfortable in a breeding cage and would fly all over the place.
