Illegal to sell Goulds?

Post by carmena » Tue Aug 03, 2010 10:18 am

I know this is crazy. I was told by ebayclassifieds that they will not allow the posting for sale of gouldian finches since they are "endangered", I wanted to reply back , as that seems crazy. I know there is an exception but don't know exactly what the exception is.

Can you help me explain to a non bird person WHY it is legal for us to sell goulds.

(PS I applied for my states Class III license a few weeks ago just so I can be "legal" even though I have only sold a handful of goulds in my life. Trust me I am not a big breeder-hobby only-but wanted to be 100% on the up and up)

I have a Gould ad on there as well as a local friend of mine who also breeds them.
Never had them tell me I can't post it.. Strange!

I have also posted with them, and my ads are still active. I bet some idiot reported your ad. Just like on craigslist when people "flag" you.
If it's illegal, then why do pet stores everywhere sell them with no problems? Even big chains like Petsmart. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

I replied back to my poor guy with an earful- he is probably thinking twice about that decision now.

Just shows you how uneducated people are and really have no idea of what they are doing.

I also sent him ads from all over the states asking if they were going to be removed to or is it only Georgia and Florida under the microscope.

Susan, I apologize for this situation. I have looked into this further and have reinstated your ad listing in question. Best of luck.

Human error.......... Seems most people don't/can't do the job that they are paid for. I run across stuff everyday from electrical companies, insurance companies, to A/C repair men , carpet installers, and waitstaff that seem to make constant mistakes. At least you got an apology and a correction.... if I could be so lucky. :?

Also it could have been a jealous person that flagged your ad. Maybe someone selling goulds in your area. You just never know.
Anyway I think it's great that ebay responded quickly and did the right thing. I'm usually not impressed with ebay help, complaint services. But this time I am.

Even if someone flagged the ad the fellow should of known that it was permissible... if not he could of checked. I am sure they have a list of stuff that is not allowed. He obviously checked once there was a complaint.... He should of done his job and checked that list first evn if there was a complaint flagged :?
Sorry, people not doing their jobs is a personal pet peeve of mine.

I am honestly surprised they apologized. Seeing the local craigslist pet section with all the profanity and personal attacks about folks posting certain pet ads and flagging others.
Its crazy. [-X

If you look carefully you'll find that many people don't know what the hell they're doing or what they're talking about. I'm often surprised when I see how "professionals" or "trained" people in whatever field conduct their business it makes me wonder how they get these jobs and how they're allowed to hold them.

This guy must've wanted to look like he was smart by telling you Gouldians were endangered and you weren't allowed to sell them. Obviously he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He probably was new on the job too and probably wanted to look like he was doing his job.
