Goldfinch Update

Post by Albinosilver » Fri Sep 10, 2010 9:14 pm

Yes, That last goldfinch chick has survived and is weaned. Im not too sure about releasing him yet, because he is missing quite alot of feathers and it's rather cold outside. Would he be ok like that? They're already growing back, so maybe in another week or two?

He's currently in a cage with some 4 month old societies, and he is actually VERY aggressive. He litterally attacks any other birds that get too close even though they are much bigger then him, he never really hurts anyone though.

Anyways, he's a very cute little guy with his fluffy yellow feathers and sweet little chirps. It'll be sad to see him go...

I'll post pictures if I ever get my camera working again.

You know, I'm worried about him when you release him. One thing the parents teach their fledglings is how to forage and survive. Are you planning to put food out there for him until he learns on his own?
