Thanks Ac12! I currently have 4 flight cages but they don't have the the doors at the end like yours! That was what I was looking for. I may have to try and do something like that. But I also am interested in building some cages that are somewhat like the ones that Poohbear has shown. Keep the advice/pics coming guys I am taking in every suggestion you have!

A cage front company over here makes these...you cut out bars where you want to mount the outside nest box.When not in use you just clip one of these in place to fill the hole...good eh??

Man those look really handy! Wish we had them in the states, I'll have to look around for some. And I'm looking around for cage fronts as well. Trying to find some 12''x12'' thinking about making a triple breeder cage so it can be either three 12'' cages, one 24'' cage with a 12'' cage attached or one 36'' long flight cage.

When you make a cage, my advice it to make the poop tray for the individual sections, and not a single wide poop tray. With the divider going all the way to the bottom, and the poop trays going between the dividers. In my setup, the birds walk directly on the newspaper in the poop tray. So where I have individual poop trays for each half, I can easily divide the cage. The one cage with a full width poop tray is not permanently dividable, because I can't clean the poop tray w/o the birds being able to get under the divider and to the other side.

Ah, very good point ac12! After still browsing the web I found another site. (http://www.houseofcrests.com/How%20To%2 ... %20One.htm there is part one at the bottom of that page there is a link to part 2 of the cages) Now I love the setup of these cages, but I am wondering how he cleans them? It does not look like there is any try at all. It seems that this breeder has to take the entire door off in order to clean it? Does anyone else see that? What are your thoughts, opinions? Thanks.

This flight cage of mine had no trays...I used wood shavings and made deep wooden fronts to stop mess...when cleaning I inserted divider and made the fronts removable.Removed shavings with small dustpan,and finished off with vacuum cleaner attachment.Then scattered fresh shavings.

Great design Poohbear! Love it! what are the dimensions of that cage if you don't mind me asking. And also where you were able to find cage fronts?

8 foot long, and those 'cage fronts' are floor wires out of old cages.Plenty of cage fronts over here if I need them.

The site that you posted the link to.....it seems the owner builds and sells the cages fronts.
Looking at the way he puts a frame around the wire front is it possible that a divider could be put in while the front is take off for cleaning?
In my cabinets thats how I made them.

That's what I was thinking that he would divide the part from the part that he wanted to clean. But I was thinking what if you had a breeding pair in the cage and they had babies, and you made them go to the other side so you could clean. Do you think that would upset them separating them from their babies? Even if it was just for a few minutes.

It's bound to upset them a bit...the important thing is straight afterwards leave them in peace for a couple of hours.Usually the instinct to raise their young will take over from any upset they experience.
